LDT Alumni Research Paper Selected as “Best Paper” in 2024 Edition of the Journal of Political Science Education


LDT alumni Jorge Abeledo, Randal Ellsworth, Noah Martin, and Lina Zuluaga were awarded for their research published in the 2024 Edition of the Journal of Political Science Education. Working together with Georgetown professor Mark Carl Rom, their paper titled “Engaging Students in American Politics: Effort and Accomplishments” studied the link between student effort and grades. The paper is a timely reminder of how data and technology can transform education. When knowing how students engage and perform better, advanced algorithms have the potential to personalize learning experiences, assess student engagement in real-time, and provide tailored feedback, potentially increasing both student effort and academic success.
